Town Hall Meeting #3
October 27, 2009
On Tuesday, October 27th neighbors and Potrero Terrace & Annex residents gathered at the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House for a meeting with the Potrero Hill Boosters for a presentation of the preferred site plan. Master planning architect Fred Pollack from VWMP revisited the three preliminary concept plans that were introduced at the May 2nd Open House. The preferred site plan emphasizes a new neighborhood center along 24th Street, adjacent to a new large community park at the corner of Missouri and 24th Street. The plan provides new connections to the Potrero Recreation Center, shared parks and backyards, and urban gathering spaces including pocket parks and tot lots, stair plazas and ample sidewalks. The circulation plan follows a more rational street grid and provides better pedestrian connections to tie the new development into the surrounding neighborhood. This provides vehicular connections north and south: Arkansas Missouri, Texas and 24th Streets. While the buildings have not yet been designed, the plan includes a range of building types placed to maximize the view for residents and neighbors. Most street frontages include walk-up street entries.
The meeting concluded with an extended question and answer period where the architect, development team and City staff answered questions from residents and the community on the plan. Please see the PowerPoint presentation below for detailed diagrams.
