Focus Group #2
January 24, 2009
Topic: Sustainability
Gathering for the second session, this time at the Potrero Hill Recreation Center (thank you, Charlie O and Jon Greenberg), Residents of Potrero Terrace and Annex were joined by an even more expansive group of Potrero Hill neighbors to explore the question: “What will make this community sustainable?” Joining the Focus Group meetings for the first time, sustainability consultants SVR presented an approach to thinking about sustaining the environment, habitat, buildings and community of Potrero Terrace and Annex. With master plan architects Van Meter Williams Pollack, they launched small group discussions to generate a broad array of ideas touching every aspect of the subject. Based on five lively discussions, representatives presented the key concerns and goals arrived at in their groups. Over Goat Hill pizza, informal conversations continued to spark and refine everyone’s thinking about water, energy, transit, health, families, gathering opportunities, neighborhood connections, and how to build and sustain their community.
