Resident Meeting #1
August 12, 2008
Introduction
At this first meeting with the Residents of Potrero Terrace and Annex, held at Starr King Elementary School (thank you, Chris Rosenberg, Starr King Principal), BRIDGE Housing and the San Francisco Housing Authority together addressed two fundamental elements of the process of rebuilding the development:
The Housing Authority explained the rules that apply to the Residents concerning relocation, and provided the form of “Do Not Move” letter to be distributed within days following the meeting. (The letter confirms the rights of the Residents to assistance with relocation.)
BRIDGE was introduced as the developer selected by the Housing Authority to manage the rebuilding process, and to ultimately own and manage the new housing. BRIDGE presented the project team, the general project timeline, and, together with the Housing Authority, answered questions from the Residents on a wide array of topics. One key message: in keeping with the HOPE SF principles, the BRIDGE team, cooperating closely with the Housing Authority and the Mayor’s Office of Housing, is committed to a comprehensive, deliberate process of consulting with the Residents and neighbors to develop a vision of a rebuilt Potrero.
