Tour of Completed Developments
October 18, 2008
More than 60 Residents of Potrero Terrace and Annex joined the BRIDGE team (and translators) to visit three completed affordable housing developments in San Francisco – two rebuilt public housing projects (funded in part by the Federal HOPE VI program) and affordable rental apartments at a third location:
- North Beach Place: 341 apartments built by BRIDGE (and partners) above enclosed parking, retail and common areas at Bay & Taylor Streets, near Fisherman’s Wharf – a HOPE VI rebuild that replaced 229 public housing units
- Valencia Gardens: 260 apartments built primarily as townhouses and apartments at 15th & Valencia Streets, in the Mission District – another HOPE VI rebuild that replaced 246 public housing units
- One Church: 93 apartments made affordable to low-income families by BRIDGE through several sources of City, State, Federal and private financing, at Church and Duboce Streets, next door to the San Francisco Mint Residents took photographs of elements of the buildings and common areas that they liked – as well as those they didn’t want to see in the rebuilt Potrero. And, of course, being on the bus together for several hours gave us all a chance to get to know one another and share our opinions.
