Town Hall Meeting #2
March 23, 2009
Topic: Goal Setting/Focus Group Recap
Having wrapped up the series of Focus Groups, the RebuildPotrero team hosted our 2nd Town Hall Meeting at the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House on March 23rd. To kick us off, Fred Pollack of Van Meter Williams Pollack (VMWP) presented a brief PowerPoint recap of the Focus Groups. “Goals & Principles” had been generated from conversations and exercises at each Focus Group. Fred walked us through these principles, explaining that we will continue to build on them as we progress in the planning process, and will incorporate the input and outcomes of meetings held to date.
After a short period of Q&A together, we broke up for a Focus Group ‘Open House.’ The theater at the Neighborhood House provided a great venue to set up stations for each of the topics covered in the Focus Group: Safety, Sustainability, Community Space, Circulation & Open Space, Building Prototypes, and Unit Plans. Participants were able to gather more information, ask questions and give input to members of the RebuildPotrero team about the “Goals & Principles” generated at those meetings. Attendees left thinking about how the information gathered in the Focus Groups would influence a physical plan and excited to see how it could come together in design alternatives.
