Welcome to Rebuild Potrero
Potrero Annex and Terrace (“Potrero”) are located along a steep ridge at the southern edge of San Francisco’s Potrero Hill. The 33-acre developments, built in two phases, the first in 1941 and second in 1955, are home to approximately 1,200 people. The Potrero Annex and Terrace sites (“Potrero”) are being revitalized as part of the City of San Francisco’s HOPE SF program a partnership between the Mayor’s Office of Housing and the San Francisco Housing Authority aimed at revitalizing distressed public housing developments. In 2008, BRIDGE Housing Corporation and its affiliate BUILD were selected to lead the redevelopment effort at Potrero.
The development team plans to replace all 606 existing public housing apartments and integrate additional affordable and market-rate homes into the community along with amenities such as open space, neighborhood services, and retail opportunities. Potrero will be rebuilt in phases and residents will be relocated within the property to minimize displacement.
BRIDGE/BUILD and our design team — led by the land planning and architecture firm Van Meter Williams Pollack— engaged in an 18 month community design process, culminating in a completed master plan. This plan has been submitted to the city for environmental review. BRIDGE is also continuing to work on a variety of community building initiatives with Annex and Terrace residents and the broader Potrero neighborhood. Construction could begin as soon as 2014.

Please check out the new community-based website, Unite Potrero HERE. The Blog is part of the Potrero Ccommunity Building Group and is open to contributions from any and all Potrero Hill residents. New Community Garden Installed on Second Annual Community Action Day
The Second Annual Community Action Day on August 21st was another big success. Volunteers from all over Potrero Hill helped install a raised-bed garden and participated in a community celebration. There was barbeque and music, with jumpy houses and other kids’ games. This year had the added element of an outdoor movie night with an evening showing of “The Princess and the Frog.” Thanks to all who donated time and materials to make the Second Annual Community Action Day possible.
