The Project
Potrero Annex and Terrace (“Potrero”) are located along a steep ridge at the southern edge of San Francisco’s Potrero Hill. The 33-acre site is highly visible, particularly from the 280 freeway. The developments are home to approximately 1,200 people.
We have been engaged in a community design process to determine what can and should be built. Through a series of meetings, including focus groups, residents and neighbors have come together to explore a number of questions about how the site might be reconfigured and integrated into to the larger Potrero Hill neighborhood. These meetings have been very engaging, with tremendous enthusiasm from a range of participants.
It is anticipated that the Potrero project will achieve the following goals:
- Create an economically integrated neighborhood by replacing all of the 606 deteriorating existing public housing units, building new affordable rental apartments, and integrating market-rate for-sale homes.
- Create both physical and social connections between Potrero and the larger Potrero Hill neighborhood.
- Create economic opportunities for residents.
- Construct needed community facilities, including space for on-site services and programs.
- Create a comprehensive services plan to address gaps in services and facilitate access to existing programs and resources.
